National World War II Memorial

The Memorial, a Tompkins/Grunley-Walsh joint venture consists of 56 17-foot tall, granite pillars, representing each state, territory and the District of Columbia during that war period. Atlantic and Pacific theaters of the war are depicted by two 43-foot high arched pavilions. A Rainbow Pool with fountains is centered between the two pavilions. Different aspects of the war are captured in 24 bronze low reliefs. The Memorial is located between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall.
